Tuberculosis (incl. Drug Resistant / Complex TB)
Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial infection that most commonly affects the lungs. It is fully treatable, and with the correct course of medication most people make a complete recovery. Dr. Shah has extensive experience managing even the most complex drug-resistant cases using the latest evidence-based guidelines.
Symptoms to Watch

- Coughing up blood or blood-stained sputum
- Drenching night sweats
- Unexplained weight loss

- Fatigue and loss of energy
- Chest pain, especially when breathing or coughing

- 3Chest X-ray to assess the extent and pattern of lung involvement
- 4Tuberculin skin test (Mantoux) or IGRA blood test for latent TB screening
- 5CT scan for complex, disseminated, or extrapulmonary cases
- 6Drug sensitivity testing to guide treatment in drug-resistant TB

- Individualised regimen design for MDR-TB or XDR-TB based on sensitivity testing
- DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment) support to ensure adherence and cure
- Regular monitoring of treatment response and side effects
- Contact tracing advice to protect household and close contacts
- Coordination with RNTCP and government TB programmes where applicable
